Apology not accepted, Niranjan Jyoti must quit, says Opposition
Facing flak from the Opposition in Parliament over her abusive rant at an election rally in Delhi, Union minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Tuesday expressed regret over her choice of words and apologised.
The Opposition, however, said she must resign or should be removed from her post. Watch VIDEO
The Union Minister of State in the Food Processing Ministry was seen saying this in a video footage shot on Monday: "You have to decide whether you want a government of those born of Ram or of those born illegitimately."
Miffed at the comments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked BJP MPs at a parliamentary party meeting to be careful while speaking.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu too met Niranjan Jyoti, a Lok Sabha MP from Fatehpur in UP, in his office.
